RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Punjab government has extended ban on carrying of arms till December 12 throughout the province with special regard to those districts where Local Government elections would be held.

The ban would include carrying or display of firearms, carrying out aerial firing, holding or organizing rallies and gathering of five or more people excluding those queues which have been formed for polling votes in front of the polling stations.

   

All the candidates intending to contest elections have been directed to immediately handover the firearms possessed by them to their concerned police stations. The firearms held by the police would be return to the license holders after three days of polling, in the districts where polling is to be held on Dec 5.

The concerned authorities have been directed to ensure that restriction of the ban is complied with in letter and spirit and the infringers be booked in accordance with the relevant laws.

In addition to it, there would also be ban on bringing out rallies by the supporters of successful candidates of Local Bodies elections besides carrying out aerial firing.

It carried clear message “Jo aslah lehray ga —- wo seedha jail jay ga. Avoid that Jubilation of election winning may not turn into a tragedy.”

The general public, through this message has been directed to immediately report any violation of the ban on phone 15 for an immediate remedial action by the concerned Police.
