ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday terming the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) “future of Pakistan” said timely completion of the project, is the government’s top priority.

The Prime Minister expressed these views in a briefing given to him by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on the status of the China Pakistan Energy Corridor projects at a meeting on CPEC Project Monitoring Arrangements, here at the PM House.

The Prime Minister said soon he would perform the ground-breaking of the Western Corridor of the CPEC project.

He said he would personally review the pace and progress of CPEC through the core team. He said the concerned officials, who would not deliver in terms of timely completion of the project, would not remain part of the team.

He directed the authorities concerned to update project benchmarks on monthly as well as quarterly basis which he would monitor on weekly basis.

Prime Minister Sharif said the CPEC would generate employment opportunities across the country and would enhance trade.
