SocialRescue 1122 responds rescues 116,745 helpless victims in decade

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has responded to 107,233 Emergency Calls and rescued 116,745 helpless victims of emergencies in the district during the last decade.

During the period 48,282 were vehicular traffic accidents, 5106 fire incidents, 114 building collapse incidents, 72 bomb blast incidents, 3259 crime incidents, 168 drowning cases, 5388 special rescue operations (Animal Rescue) and 44844 medical emergencies, said Spokesperson of Rescue 1122 while briefing a delegation of 25 MS students from National University of Modern Languages, who visited the office of the emergency service on Wednesday.

Dr. Syed Waqas Ali of Governance and Public Policy Studies of NUML headed the delegation which was given detailed briefing on the relief and rescue operations about Emergency Management System (EMS).

Spokesperson Rescue 1122 Ms Deeba Shahnaz briefed the delegation about the structure and working of the Emergency Service Rescue 1122 through electronic presentation and showed working of Control Room.

The rescuers also demonstrated about life saving equipments in ambulance and mock exercise of firefighting. District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi responded to the questions relating to monitoring system, induction process of rescuers, transparency mechanism and ensuring 7 minutes response time procedure.

Deeba said that Rescue 1122 has credit of holding one Sitara-e-Imtiaz, one Tamgah-e-Imtiaz, two consecutive National Youth Awards and four Gallantry Awards. Besides, the Service has also been presented with the best Picture Award at National Level and Azam-e-Alishan Award 2011.

Dr. Syed Waqas Ali thanked the organizers for arranging briefing and visit to the esteemed organization.
