LeJ terrorists killed near Rawalpindi Islamabad

Islamabad, Pakistan: Rawalpindi police sources claim that five alleged terrorist who were killed in crossfire following a joint raid carried out by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Elite Force in the outskirts of the city in early were members of Lashkar-i-Jangvi (LeJ). Encouter took place at Dhamyal Road on Thursday morning.

It may be mentioned that during crossfire between the terrorists and the raiding party, one Sub-Inspector of Elite Force embraced shahadat while three other cops sustained bullet injuries, two of them critically. Encouter took place at Dhamyal Road close to a sensitive installation of Pakistan Army known as Dhamyal Base.

Police confirmed that killed terrorists included a woman namely Malika and his husband Mustafa and their two children Sawera, Azan and Muhammad. Terrorists were living in this rented house since 2014 their neighbours gave tip off to police about their suspicious activities.

The Elite Force following intelligence reports regarding presence of terrorists in a hideout, in the wee hours of Thursday raided a house in Joriyan Village on Dhamyal Road.

When the inmates of the house came to know about the raid, they opened indiscriminate fire on the raiding party resultantly killing Sub Inspector Irshad and injuring ASI Ibrar, besides Constables Mohsin Shah and Abdul Rehman. Further investigations are being carried out by the concerned agencies. LeJ is allegedly trying to convert into Daesh outfit and several members of LeJ arrested in Karachi confessed during their interrogation that LeJ now support Islamic State (IS) that is known as Daesh in Middle East and Pakistan. LeJ is allegedly providing foot soldiers to Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) also in Punjab.

Intelligence sources claim that LeJ strong network is busy in and around capital city of Islamabad and a number of terrorists groups have joined hands with LeJ. Sources claim that areas including Hazro, Fateh Jang, Trol, Dhamyal and Saidan Shah are prime areas where terrorists might have sleeping cells.

Police had tip off that LeJ terrorists were living in Dhamyal area and were planning to hold suicide bombing during the month of Muharram at mosques and Imambarghas of Shia Muslims.

Terrorists outfit LeJ is striking back against Punjab government after its head Malik Ishaq was killed in a police encounter along with his sons and relatives. In past, LeJ was known for its close relations with some top members of Punjab political elite including a number of provincial ministers. LeJ killed Home Minister Shuja Khanzada in his home town in revenge for killing Malik Ishaq.
