ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will announce the relief package for the farmers next week, according to press office of the PM House.

It was decided in a high level meeting presided over by the prime minister in Islamabad on Thursday to review the problems of agriculture sector in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and other high officials.

The meeting discussed various measures to reduce the cost of agriculture inputs and to increase per acre yield of major crops. It also deliberated on the relief package for the farmers to ease out the difficulties being faced specially by the small farmers.

The prime minister directed the ministries of finance and national food security to prepare a relief package in consultation with the provincial governments to improve the market trends in relation to prices of the major crops.
