More than 70% schools to be exempted from Load-shed during examinations: K-Electric

KARACHI, Pakistan: K-Electric (KE) has stated that despite the heavy outstanding dues of the Education Ministry which exceeds Rs247 million, the company has now exempted more than 70 percent of the Matriculation Examination Centers from load shed.

In its press statement issued on Saturday, KE reiterated that the Board of Secondary Education had sent a letter to K-Electric a day before the commencement of these exams in which they asked the power utility to exempt more than 400 schools which were being treated as Examination Centers.

“It is almost difficult to exempt more than 400 schools which are spread all over the city, however, we will be exempting more than 70% of such schools from load-shed from Monday,” the KE spokesman said.

KE said that these schools are spread all over the city and granting exemption on such short notice is difficult.

The education ministry has been a defaulter of more than Rs247 million but KE, keeping in mind what these students would have to go through due to the negligence and ill-management of the Ministry, immediately responded to the late call made by the Ministry and has exempted most of the schools. Since some of these schools are present in Very High Loss and High Loss Areas, it is not possible to exempt all of them and especially during the peak demand hours.

KE in the end pleads to the government to show more responsibility and have the education ministry clear its dues so that the future generation does not get hampered and affected due to this inattentiveness shown by the Ministry.
