ISLAMABAD: The International Day of Girl Child is being observed on Saturday (October 11) with the pledge to end scourge of violence against girls and women and promote their empowerment.
The theme of the day this year is ‘Empowering Adolescent Girls: Ending the Cycle of Violence’.
In his message, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon urged governments to take action for ending all forms of violence against girls in all parts of the world.
The UN Secretary General stressed the need to equip girls with knowledge, skills, resources and power to determine their own path in life.
