US announces additional $9.3 million to help meet needs of IDPs

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson has announced an additional $9.3 million to help meet needs of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan tribal region.

This fund will be provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

In a statement, the US envoy said that the United States is ready to help Pakistan in meeting the humanitarian needs in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The United States will provide $7 million to UNICEF Pakistan to improve health, hygiene, water, and sanitation services for the IDPs while the remaining funds will be used to ensure health of livestock.
