KATHMANDU: India and Nepal will hold their eleventh meeting of the bilateral consultative group on security issues in Kathmandu starting from Sunday.

In the two-day meeting, India will be represented by a 13-member delegation led by the joint secretary for north in India’s external affairs ministry Abhay Thakur. On the other hand, a 15-member Nepali delegation headed by the joint secretary in Nepal’s foreign ministry for India and South Asia Amrit Rai will participate in talks.

The two sides will discuss various security issues during the meeting including considering the Nepal army’s request for the supply of military stores and equipment by India.

“The meeting is expected to discuss the procurement of military equipment for training, joint exercises, counter-terrorism action, information sharing between the two armies,” the Nepal army said in its statement.

The Nepal army last year requested India for an immediate supply of arms valued at Nepali Rs1.76 billion (over $18.4 million).
