Islamabad, Pakistan: The book launch ceremony of two books “Short stories of the 20th century” and Urdu-Uzbek Similar Words Dictionary will be held on May 21 at National Language Promotion Department Islamabad.

Urdu-Uzbek Similar Words Dictionary is compiled by Professor Dr Tash Mirza who completed his doctorate in Urdu in 1961 from Moscow University and from 1983 to 1987 he was the Director of the Soviet Culture Centre in Karachi.

Urdu-Uzbek Similar Words Dictionary is compiled by Professor Dr Tash Mirza who completed his doctorate in Urdu in 1961 from Moscow University and from 1983 to 1987 he was the Director of the Soviet Culture Centre in Karachi. Recognising his long service to the Urdu language in Central Asia, the Pakistani government honoured him with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2011.

He has compiled a compact Urdu-Uzbek dictionary, and he translates in both directions. He also published Urdu translations of several poems by Ali Sher Naovi, a renowned Uzbek poet.
