Federal govt plans to launch ‘awami insurance scheme’

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is considering launching the ‘awami insurance scheme’ from July 1 through State Life Insurance and it will cover all people in the age bracket of 25 to 60 years.

Under the scheme, which will cost Rs 2.12 billion, deaths resulting from road and rail accident would be covered.

The amount of death benefit would be Rs 100,000.

The premium under the scheme would be payable annually in advance by the federal government to State Life. The cost of the scheme would be subject to review on annual basis.
