Rasikh Ismail gives back

LAHORE: In a country like Pakistan there is always an opportunity to give back to the community, whether it’s through a private NGO or a public forum. Every week one stumbles upon a new organization that has been set up to help the people of Pakistan in one form or another. It is always heart-warming to hear when people such as Rasikh Ismail, COO at MCR Franchisee of Pizza Hut, take the time out to give back to society in their own special way.

Holding the demanding position of COO and running his own business, Koel Café, Rasikh Ismail has still found the time to be on the board of directors of Imkaan, a social project to help children, which is an organization close to his heart. Rasikh comments on why he is so passionate about Imkaan: “Imkaan and its values sit well with my personal passion to positively impact lives of children in Pakistan; for which I believe we should all upgrade our actions from drawing room talk to actually making a difference even if it is of a small foot print. Tahera Hassan and others on the board are inspirational individuals who contribute their personal time and resources towards making that much needed difference without the fanfare like so many others. I feel privileged to be working with them for our common cause under the umbrella of Imkaan which indeed is in its infancy stage but InshAllah will make an impact as we move forward.”

Formed in 2012, Imkaan is a young organization which believes that no child should be curtailed by the circumstances of their birth and that every individual has the right to life and quality health care. They not only provide shelter to the abandoned and find loving homes for the children but they also provide health care to underprivileged societies.

If people such as Rasikh Ismail who hold such time consuming positions can still find the time to do something positive for Pakistanis, it should make us wonder why more people can’t do it. Giving back is more about making the time to do something good, rather than being just about giving money.
