Special court reserves judgment on plea to try Musharraf in military court

ISLAMABAD: The special court formed to try former President Pervez Musharraf for high treason on Tuesday reserved its judgment on a plea about shifting of former president’s trial to the military court.

Meanwhile, tight security measures were taken as the former president is likely to appear before the court today, while the protocol officers of the presidency and the prime minister house reached the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to provide protocol to Musharraf.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali resumed the hearing in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During today’s hearing, Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor said that the former president would appear anytime in the court.

On February 7, the special court ordered the former president to appear on February 18, while Justice Faisal Arab remarked that a non-bailable warrant for Musharraf would be issued if he failed to appear before the court.
