India to continue to seek better ties with Pakistan: Manmohan Singh

NEW DELHI: India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Friday that his country will continue to seek better ties with its neighbours including Pakistan for peace and stability in the region, and also expressed the desire to visit Pakistan before the expiry of his tenure.

In a press conference in New Delhi on Friday‚ the Indian prime minister said that his visit can result in a breakthrough in moving forward the dialogue process with Pakistan and resolving all outstanding issues.

The Indian premier said that friendly and peaceful relations with Pakistan can guarantee prosperity and development of the region.

Manmohan also said that it will be disastrous for the country to have Narendra Modi, a Hindu nationalist ring-winger from western Gujarat state, as prime minister.
