PESHAWAR: At least five suspected militants were killed and two others injured in a US drone strike near Pak-Afghan border on Saturday.

The injured reportedly taken to a hospital in Landi Kotal for medical treatment.

The latest drone strike occurred two days after Pakistan called for a complete halt to US drone strikes as these are in violation of its sovereignty and have been proved counter-productive in war against terror.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Thursday, the adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz had said that Pakistan wanted complete stoppage of drone strikes instead of any decrease in them.

The advisor had said that that although a significant decrease was noted in drone strikes this year but Pakistan had a stance to stop them completely.

Moreover, in his weekly press conference on Thursday the Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry had said that the issue of US missile strikes in Pakistani territory could jeopardize bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.

The Foreign Office spokesman had said that Pakistan’s stance on missile strikes was not changed, reiterating that such attacks against sovereignty of the country and against international laws.

The spokesman had said that the US defense secretary had also been conveyed about Pakistan’s deep concern over continuing US missile strikes, stressing that such strikes had been counter-productive to our efforts to combat terrorism and extremism on an enduring basis.
