Update: Curfew in Rawalpindi extended for 24 hours

RAWALPINDI: A curfew was imposed in Rawalpindi on Saturday after 12 persons were killed, dozens others injured and a market was burnt in a clash between two groups in relation to the harassment of an Ashura procession in Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazar area.

The curfew was imposed at 12:00 am and will remain enforce for 24 hours in the jurisdiction of 19 police stations including Rawal Town‚ Potohar Town and Cantonment areas of Rawalpindi till midnight tonight due to tense situation.
