SocialEid-ul-Azha likely to be celebrated on Oct 16 across Pakistan: Met Office

KARACHI: The Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be celebrated on October 16 (Thursday) as Zil-haj moon is expected to be sighted in Pakistan tomorrow (Sunday), the Met Office said on Saturday.

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will meet tomorrow in Karachi at the Met Complex to decide about the sighting or otherwise of the Zil-haj moon.

The Chairman of the committee, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, will preside over the meeting. The meeting would commence after the Asr prayers.

On the other hand, Zil-haj moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia; therefore Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on October 15 in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.
