Social2 killed, 601 injured in 501 road traffic accidents in Punjab

LAHORE: Total 501 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours, in which 02 lives were Lost and 402 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 199 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot.

According to the details issued on October 03, 2013, 244 drivers, 13 underage drivers, 61 pedestrians and 298 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 121 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 136 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 55 RTAs in Faisalabad with 60 victims and Multan remained at third position with 35 RTAs and 39 victims.

The details further show that total 601 in victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 512 males and 91 females, while age group of the victims show that 84 were under 18 year of age, 371 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 148 victims were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 381 motorbikes, 62 auto rickshaws, 64 motorcars, 28 vans, 06 passenger buses, 17 trucks and 50 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
