HeadlinesIslamabad standoff case: ATC rejects Kanwal’s bail plea

ISLMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Thursday rejected bail plea of co-accused Kanwal Sikandar in Islamabad standoff case.

Kanwal’s counsel, Kalsoom Khaliq, said in her arguments before the court while requesting for bail that nothing has been recovered from custody of her client and nor any Challan has been presented to court.

Kanwal was hostage on gunpoint so Article-7 ATA and clauses 324 and 506 cannot be imposed on her and remaining all charges are bail-able, she added.

Prosecutor Syed Tayyab Advocate said in his arguments that Kanwal took part in accused Sikandar’s planning.

During hearing, footage of co-accused Kanwal was also shown in the court. Kanwal was carrying weapon in that video.

The court rejected bail plea of co-accused Kanwal Sikandar, after completion of arguments from both sides.

The ATC also extended judicial remand of accused Akhtar, who provided weapons to Sikandar, for 11 more days and instructed that the accused should be presented before the court on September 16.
