ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has reportedly issued directive to all mobile operators in Pakistan to stop all sms and call packages till September 02, 2013, aiming at protecting moral values by stopping new generation from wasting its time using mobile phones in doing meaningless things.

The directive has been issued in a letter (which has a subject as “Directive Relating to Packages offered by CMTOs Contrary To Moral Values of the Society”) to all mobile operators in the country following a survey carried out by the authority through PTA Zonal Offices, reports said.

In the directive, all telecom companies such as Mobilink, Ufone, Telenor, Zong and Warid have been asked to stop all voice and sms packages e.g. daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly till September 02, 2013 and have also been asked to submit an appropriate report to the authority.

According to reports, the reason behind the order issued by the PTA to all mobile operators is the social morality.
