QUETTA: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday gave 24-hour deadline to authorities for recovery of missing persons of Balochistan.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case in Supreme Court’s Quetta Registry and summoned Inspector General (IG) Frontier Constabulary Major General Shahid Ijaz to apprise the court of steps taken to recover missing persons.

The bench expressed its displeasure over non-recovery of missing persons and directed him to recover and produce all of them in the next hearing on Tuesday.

The CJP also directed the authorities to arrest the officers involved in illegal detention of people in Balochistan.

The IG FC assured that he will look into the cases thoroughly as he has assumed the office few days back. He said that all missing persons would be released if they are in FC’s custody.

The court later adjourned the hearing till tomorrow (Tuesday).
