GUDDU: The high flood peak in river Chenab has inundated low-lying areas in Chiniot‚ Jhang‚ Bhowana‚ Garh Maharaja and Shah Jewna.

About two hundred villages have come under water while some five hundred houses collapsed.

Meanwhile‚ in River Indus the high flood peak has entered Guddu Barrage.

Chief Engineer Guddu Barrage told our Hyderabad correspondent Tariq Baloch that all protective bunds have been fortified.

The flood waters have inundated thousands of acres of agriculture land in the Katcha areas of Sindh.

The local administration has directed the people of Katcha areas to move to safer places due to rising flood water.

All the canals coming from Taunsa Barrage have been closed down due to flood threat.

According to IRSA‚ Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal supplying water to Southern Punjab has also been closed due to high silting.

Severe blooding in River Chenab has inundated hundreds of villages in Punjab Province.

More than three hundred villages have submerged in flood water in Jhang District and the water is now mounting pressure on the protective bund of Jhang city.

The discharge of water from Trimon Headworks in Jhang District recorded this morning was two hundred thirty seven thousand cusecs and the water level was further rising.

Hundreds of villages in Gujranwala Division‚ Kamoke‚ Chiniot‚ Shorkot‚ Multan‚ Muzaffargarh‚ Vehari‚ Rajanpur‚ Rahimyar Khan and other areas have been inundated leaving thousands of people stranded.

Hundreds of houses in Basti Farid of Vehari District have been affected by the flood water.

A huge water tide of 502‚000 cusecs in River Indus has reached Guddu Barrage.

The water level is expected to further rise‚ which will inundate more areas in Sindh Province.

All the canals coming from Taunsa Barrage have been closed down due to flood threat.

According to IRSA‚ Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal supplying water to Southern Punjab has also been closed due to high silting.

Pakistan Army and local authorities are engaged in relief and rescue operation in the affected villages.

According to Punjab Highway Department‚

Jhang Sargodha road is closed for all type of traffic from kilometer number 5 to 19‚ due to flood water.

Chund Massan to Pir Kot Sadhna road is also closed for traffic.

However‚ Narowal-Muridke Road is closed only for heavy traffic at kilometer number 9 and 10.

All the other roads in the province are open for traffic.
