Recent PostMet Office forecast widespread heavy rains across Pakistan; warns flash flooding

ISLAMABAD: The monsoon is very likely to enter in its active phase from today (Monday) that would result widespread rains with scattered heavy falls in the country during the week, the Meteorological Department said.

According to the Met department, heavy rains are expected in Islamabad‚ Punjab‚ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ North East Balochistan and Kashmir from today to Wednesday that may generate Flash Flooding in the vulnerable areas.

The department informed that a low pressure area has developed over central parts of India which is likely to move northwest ward in next twelve hours and then it may persist over North India during next 3-4 days.

Under the influence of this low pressure area strong to very strong monsoon current will penetrate in North East Pakistan during the week.

All concerned authorities have been advised to remain alert during the week.
