KARACHI: A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held today (Thursday) in Karachi for sighting Shawwal crescent while the zonal committees will hold meetings at their respective headquarters for the purpose.

Chairman of the Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman will preside the meeting. Meteorological and other concerned departments will provide technical assistance to the committee.

On the other hand, after sighting of Shawwal moon in Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in tribal areas of Pakistan today.

According to reports, Eid prayers were offered in Peshawar’s Afghan refugee camps, Bannu, Khyber Agency and various tribal areas after local ulema decided to mark the Eid day with Saudi Arabia.
