KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted more widespread rain-thundershower in Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Northeast Balochistan over the next 24 hours.

According to the met department, scattered rain is expected in DG Khan, Hyderabad, Larkana divisions, while at isolated places in Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta, Sukkur, Mirpurkhas divisions & Gilgit-Baltistan.

In addition, heavy falls may occur at isolated places of DI Khan, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Nasirabad, Kalat, Zhob divisions & Kashmir.

The department has extended its pervious advisory for flash flooding in Balochistan for another 12 hours and states that widespread heavy downpours in the province would generate more flash flooding in the local rivers, streams and rain drains, particularly in Naseerabad, Kalat and Makran divisions.

It also states that due to heavy rains the possibility of urban flooding in Larkana, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions cannot be ruled out during the next 24-36 hours.

More than two dozen persons have lost their lives in various parts of the country from electrocution and other rain-related incidents.

Moreover, in northern parts of the country torrential rains have triggered flash floods in rivers and drains, washing away hundreds of houses and killing dozens of people.
