ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In the backdrop of inflated electricity bills fueling nationwide protests, the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar has convened an emergency meeting in Islamabad on Sunday.

“I have called an emergency meeting at the Prime Minister’s House tomorrow on the issue of heavy electricity bills,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The interim prime minister said that in the meeting, a briefing will be taken from the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) and distribution companies, and consultations will be held regarding giving maximum relief to consumers regarding electricity bills.

IESCO offers bill installment option to consumers

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company Limited (IESCO) has offered its customers the option of paying their electricity bills on installment.

In a statement, the IESCO Chief Executive Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan directed all offices of the Company to offer the convenience of electricity bill installment plans to visiting customers.

Dr. Amjad Khan He said if the customers have any inquiries about their electricity bills, they can contact the relevant Sub-Divisional Office, Revenue Office or Customer Service Centers.

The IESCO made the offer amid protest against heavy billing.
