Social05 dead, 659 injured in 545 road traffic accidents in Punjab

LAHORE: Total 545 road traffic accidents were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 Districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours, in which 05 lives were lost and 437 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. However, some 222 victims sustaining minor injuries were provided first on the spot.

According to the details issued on July 2, 220 drivers, 17 underage drivers, 92 pedestrians and 352 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 126 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 131 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 60 RTAs in Faisalabad with 68 victims and Multan remained at third position with 38 RTAs and 43 victims.

The details further show that total 664 in victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 523 males and 141 females, while age group of the victims show that 95 were under 18 year of age, 399 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 170 victims were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 445 motorbikes, 55 auto rickshaws, 59 motorcars, 25 vans, 8 passenger buses, 15 trucks and 82 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
