NEW YORK: Pakistan has said it gives highest importance to fool proof safety and security to its nuclear programme.

This has been stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Masood Khan while addressing an international conference on nuclear safety in New York.

He said Pakistan’s nuclear materials‚ facilities and assets are safe and secure. He pointed out that nuclear security within a state is a fundamental national responsibility and a strategic global priority.

The envoy said over the years‚ Pakistan has worked closely with international Atomic Energy Agency to strengthen nuclear security.

Masood Khan said there is robust command‚ control structures and effective regulatory regime in Pakistan to ensure safety and security of its nuclear assets.
