SocialSC seeks detailed record of production, supply of gas

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan, while hearing the load-shedding case in Islamabad on Monday, sought the detailed record of the production and supply of gas.

The apex court asked for details of payments to the IPPs and how much electricity these projects generated.

During the hearing, Attorney General Munir A. Malik told the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry that formal announcement about the government’s energy policy will be made in a day or two.

The court summoned the four provincial chief secretaries and the Federal Finance Secretary to be present at the next hearing.

The court observed that the provincial governments should take responsibility of the electriciry theft. It also observed that gas theft has not been totally controlled and its judicious distribution must be ensured.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
