QUETTA: Newly elected Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Maalik Baloch took oath of office on Sunday evening.

Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi administered the oath to him at a simple ceremony in Quetta.

The ceremony was attended among others by caretaker Chief Minister Nawab Ghous Bux Barozai‚ members of the Provincial Assembly‚ politicians and senior officials.

Earlier‚ Balochistan Assembly unanimously elected Dr Abdul Maalik Baloch as Chief Minister.

All fifty five members present in the House‚ who met the Speaker Jan Muhammad Jamali in the chair‚ voted for Dr Abdul Maalik. No other candidate had filed nomination papers for the slot.

Dr. Abdul Malik was a joint candidate of PML-N‚ National Party and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. JUI-F also supported Dr. Abdul Malik.

Addressing the House‚ Dr. Abdul Maalik vowed to take all possible steps to restore peace in the province and put the province on the path of progress and prosperity.

He invited all the armed organizations in the province to come to negotiation table to settle down the issue of Balochistan. He said we all will have to jointly work to restore peace in the province. He said the tribal conflicts will also be resolved through talks.

 

He said that missing persons‚ target killing sectarianism and kidnapping for ransom are the major issues of the province and would be resolved with the cooperation of federal government and Pak Army.
