ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved in principle declaring Construction Sector as an Industry.

The approval was accorded by the prime minister while presiding over a meeting on Ease of Doing Business in Construction Sector in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information & Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, the Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Syed Zubair Gillani, the Secretary Housing Dr. Imran Zeb, the Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHDA) Lt. General (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder, the Focal Person to Prime Minister on Digital Media Dr Arslan Khalid and senior officials were present during the meeting.

The Chairman NPHDA Lt. General (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder briefs the prime minister about steps being taken to address policy issues, simplification of procedures, easy access to comprehensive information, abolishment of unnecessary approvals, compliance of zoning & development by-laws, use of technology elimination/minimizing the need for physical presence and personal interaction and doing away with discretionary powers particular during inspections, concurrent activities within stipulated timelines

Lt. General (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder presented short, medium and long-term roadmap for improving Ease of Doing Business in construction sector.
