ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the statement of the Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh with regard to the first use of nuclear weapons is a threat to the entire world, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.
“Till today, our nuclear policy is ‘No First Use’. What happens in future depends on the circumstances,” Rajnath Singh said on Friday in an event in Pokhran, a City in Indian Rajasthan State.
In her response to the Indian defence minister’s remarks via twitter on Saturday morning, Dr Firdous Ashiq said that the International Community will have to take notice of his irresponsible statement, which is an open challenge for the international laws and world peace.

Earlier the Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal also termed the substance and timing of the Indian defence minister’s statement highly unfortunate and reflective of India’s irresponsible and belligerent behaviour.
“It further exposes the pretense of their No First Use policy, to which we have never accorded any credence,” Dr Faisal said.
Separately, Rajnath Singh also wrote in a tweet that “India attaining the status of a responsible nuclear nation became a matter of national pride for every citizen of this country. The nation will remain indebted to the greatness of Atal Ji.”

Talking about the UN Security Council’s meeting on Kashmir issue in New York, Dr Firdous said that it has proved that Kashmir is a disputed territory at global level. She said that the UNSC meeting has exposed the Indian claims that Kashmir is an internal matter of India.
The special assistant said the voice of the Kashmiris, which had been suppressed by India, resonated at the world highest diplomatic forum. She further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has emerged as the true spokesperson of Kashmiris.
