ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Adviser on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that Pakistan is rich with possibilities of generating abundant renewable energy through hydro, wind and solar while putting a cap of 50MW on renewable energy was a criminal act of the previous regime.

In a meeting with the President of World Economic Forum (WEF) Borge Brende in Islamabad on Thursday, the adviser said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is passionate about Climate Change and renewable energy.

While apprising the president WEF about upcoming 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Project, Clean Green Pakistan Project and Ecosystem Restoration Fund, the adviser said that this is the political will of the incumbent government that Pakistan has embarked upon ambitious project of 10 Billion Tree Tsunami.

Malik Amin Aslam informed that the federal government wanted to replicate its success story of planting one billion trees all across the Country, and that Pakistan aimed to register that project with Bonn challenge.

The WEF president appreciated the policies of the incumbent government particularly pertaining to utilizing the huge potential of young population and admired Skills Acceleration Project of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Borge Brende said that three among top five challenges faced by the world today were directly related to Climate Change and that Pakistan had done a marvelous job to fight climate change which was unprecedented all across the developing world.
