ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday invited Japan to be partner in the projects of high speed railway trains from Rawalpindi to Lahore and Karachi to Hyderabad.

Talking to the Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda in Islamabad, Sheikh Rasheed said Pakistan Railways was establishing the Quetta-Taftan rail network.

The minister said Pakistan Railways was taking steps towards regional connectivity through rail for development in the region.

Sheikh Rasheed said Japanese companies should have benefited from business opportunities in Railway locomotive factory Risalpur and Carriage factory Islamabad.

Moreover, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said Pakistan desired to benefit from Japanese technology and skills.

Kuninori Matsuda said Japan wanted to become partner in Pakistan Railways and hoped that new projects would bring modernism in Railways. He said there was great potential to enhance trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Japan.
