Rawalpindi, Pakistan: Thick Smog produced by stubble burning in Amritsar has entered Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Divisions.

According to Met office, the thick layer of smog is now engulfing northern Punjab of Pakistan and will remain present unless rainfall is recorded in these areas.

Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lala Musa and Jhelum are under serve grip of smog while situation is moderate in Rawalpindi and Gujar Khan.

Visibility level is too low on G.T. Road at early morning and evening therefore drivers commuting at dusk and dawn should be careful.

It may be mentioned that smog caused by rampant stubble burning in Indian Punjab, particularly in Amritsar and Ludhiana is disrupting lives of over 50 million people in the region.

Lahore is facing grave situation where It is pertinent to mention that Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached about 300-mark that is a high-risk level.

Thick smog enters Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Divisions

If rains do arrive in the region then AQI can go as higher as 400 in coming week in central Punjab.

First way of smog engulfed Lahore on October 20 due to heavy fireworks reported in Indian Punjab (Ludhiana and Amritsar) on the night of Diwali.

The only remedy to avoid lungs and eye related problems is increase in water intake as water help to mitigate upper respiratory-tract infections. People who use motorcycles should use goggles to avoid retina injuries.
