SocialMashal Khan Murder Case: 57 suspects indicted, 17 denied bails

ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan: An anti-terrorism court in Abbottabad on Tuesday rejected bail applications of 17 accused in Mashal Murder Case, and also indicted 57 suspects.

The indictments of 57 suspects were announced by the ATC Judge Justice Fazal Subhan.

The Judge also ordered to shift the trial to Central Jail Haripur which has stricter security measures.

The hearing of the Case will start from tomorrow which will move on on-daily basis.

The Mashal Khan Murder Case was transferred to ATC in Abbottabad from Mardan in late July on the directives of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in response to a plea filed by the father of deceased Mashal Khan over security issues.

The 23-year-old Mashal Khan fell victim to a mob lynching who brutally beaten the Journalism Student of Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan on April 14 this year over blasphemy allegations. Though the following investigation revealed that Mashal Khan had not committed blasphemy.

The brutal murder of Mashal Khan sparked countrywide condemnations, and demands of not sparing the culprits.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police proactively followed the Case and arrested as many as 57 accused.
