HealthPM Nawaz for effective execution of National Health Programme

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday directed effective execution and monitoring of the National Health Programme aimed at providing free of cost treatment for the downtrodden.

He was chairing a meeting on Prime Minister’s National Health Programme here at the PM House, that reviewed the status and progress made in regard to finalisation and launch of National Health Programme.

The Prime Minister said the scheme was designed for those who were unable to pay for their medical treatment.

“Poverty cannot be eliminated without curing the ailing poor,” he said.

Terming it a “crucially important health initiative” the Prime Minister said the programme should be executed in phases to filter-out deficiencies, if any, during the implementation stage.

The Prime Minister also directed that an awareness campaign be launched so that the people were fully aware about the programme and the type of ailments covered under it.

The meeting was attended by Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for National Health Services, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Musadik Malik and senior officials of the government.
