MULTAN, Pakistan: The Punjab government has enhanced subsidy on provision of laser land levellers to facilitate the farming community.

Regional Project Director High Efficiency Irrigation System Raees Ahmed Raees talking to APP said the Punjab government was providing 75 percent subsidy on provision of laser land levellers.

He said a total cost of a land laser leveller is Rs 6 lakh.

Earlier, the government was providing Rs 375,000 but the amount has been increased to Rs 450,000.

About 56 land laser levellers would be given to farmers in Multan he said and added that the number of the levellers would be enhanced as they had received 459 applications till October 31, the last date, from farmers, he said.

The officer said the laser would be provided to farmers after a draw and higher authorities would decide date of draw.

Raees said it would help to make accurate levelling of soil which would save irrigation water.
