ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Ambassadors of 12 countries presented credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday at an impressive ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

The newly designated representatives of Philippines, Belgium, Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Egypt, European Union, Norway, Poland, Italy, Cyprus, Serbia and Peru earlier arrived at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in a traditional horse-driven carriage.

National Anthem of Pakistan and their respective countries were played and Guard of Honour was presented to them by a contingent of the armed forces.

Later the Ambassadors and High Commissioner called on the President separately.

President Mamnoon Hussain felicitated the newly appointed Ambassadors and High Commissioner to Pakistan and hoped they would work for further cementing the existing ties of their respective countries with Pakistan.

The President said Pakistan was desirous of further promoting friendly and brotherly relations with all countries particularly with its neighbours for peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

President Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan offers great investment opportunities and said it was a lucrative destination for international investors.

Referring to Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism, the President said Pakistan has rendered immense sacrifices in the war against terrorism and was committed to end this menace.

He said the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was progressing successfully and added that it would continue till elimination of the last terrorist.

The President also wished the newly appointed envoys a comfortable and pleasant stay in Pakistan.

The Ambassadors and High Commissioner who presented their credentials included Daniel R. Espiritu (Philippines), Frederic Verheyden (Belgium), Mrs. Jeanette Seppen (Netherlands), Furkat Sidikov, (Uzbekistan), Sherif Mohamed Kamaleldin Shaheen (Egypt), Jean-Francois Cautain (European Union), Tore Nedreba (Norway), Piotr Opalinski (Poland), Stefano Pontecorvo (Italy), Andreas P. Kouzoupis (Cyprus-Resident in Tehran), Milan Bacevic (Serbia-Resident in Beijing) and Juan Carios Capunay Chavez (Peru-Resident in Beijing).
