12 killed in flash floods in India’s Assam state


GAUHATI, India: At least 12 persons were killed in flash floods and mudslides caused by monsoon rains in several parts of Gauhati, the capital of Indian northeastern Assam state.

Thousands of people were marooned by monsoon rains that caused flooding in at least six of the state’s 27 districts, including vast swathes of crop area.
