ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has formed a cabinet committee to coordinate and keep him updated about the ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against the militants in the North Waziristan tribal region.

An official statement issued by the PM office said that the members of the committee will include federal ministers for interior, defence, information, planning, SAFRON and a representative from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

The secretaries of interior and finance divisions, KPK chief secretary, and chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority will also sit on the committee.

From the military side, the Chief of General Staff, the Directors General of Military Operations, the Inter-Services Intelligence and Inter-Services Public Relations will be members of the committee.

The committee of the federal cabinet will meet regularly and apprise the prime minister about the operation related issues. It will also coordinate with the departments concerned over internally displaced persons (IDPs).
