RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Corps Commanders Conference was held at the army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday presided over by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, says a press release issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR said that during the conference, participants of the conference were given detailed briefing on the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants in the North Waziristan tribal region and the overall security situation.
The participants vowed that militants will not be allowed to regroup and return to these areas, neither will they be allowed any space across the country.
The COAS expressed complete satisfaction over progress made in the operation Zarb-e-Azb so far and paid rich tributes to the courage shown and sacrifices rendered by troops during the ongoing operation.
The army chief emphasized on the need to consolidate operational gains made so far which he hoped will also be backed up by long term counter terrorism and counter extremism measures by the concerned stake holders.
Recounting the sacrifices made and cooperation extended by our brave tribal brethren in fight against terrorism, the COAS directed all concerned that no stone be left unturned to assist the internally displaced persons (IDPs) during their stay outside and in their early return to their homes.
The COAS concluded that with the blessings of Allah Almighty and wholehearted support of our valiant nation, the operation Zarb-e-Azb will succeed.
