PESHAWAR: As many as 250,000 tribesmen have been displaced so far as a result of the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb in the North Waziristan tribal region, the minister for states and frontier regions Abdul Qadir Baloch told a press conference in Peshawar.

The minister said that around 150,000 people have reported at registration points taking the tally to 250,000, adding that no serious complaint has been received about difficulties faced by the internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The registration points have been set up at Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.

Qadir Baloch said that all necessary arrangements have been made at the registration point to provide maximum relief to the displaced people.

Polio vaccination counters set up at every registration centre

Meanwhile, the government has set up polio vaccination counters at every registration centre for the IDPs of North Waziristan.

The official sources said that there is no danger of spread of polio in settled areas, bordering the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
