Ukraine president agrees to repeal harsh anti-protest laws

KIEV: A special session of the Ukrainian parliament will address harsh anti-protest laws on Tuesday after the country’s President Victor Yanukovych agreed to repeal some of the laws that sparked massive violent demonstrations in the country.

The announcement came after talks between the president and the three main opposition leaders namely Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform (UDAR) leader and world boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, Fatherland Party leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk and nationalist Svoboda (Freedom) party leader Oleh Tyahnybok were held for the second time this week.

Earlier‚ the anti-government protesters ended occupation of the Justice Ministry‚ allowing talks to start between President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders in a bid to resolve the two-month crisis in the eastern European country.

Referring to announcement of Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, Ukrinform reports that Czech Republic will continue to provide support to Ukraine to repel and stop Russian aggression. "As you know, my country has launched an initiative on ammunition. By the end of the year, 500,000 large-caliber shells will be delivered. We will not stop there. We will continue to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary support," the Czech Foreign Minister emphasized.
