US-led military exercises start in Ukraine

KIEV, Ukraine: The soldiers from 15 countries including the United States have begun military exercises dubbed “Rapid Trident 14” near the Ukrainian western city of Yavoriv on Monday.

The 11-day drills are taking place on the Yavoriv training ground in the Lviv region with the participation of about 1,300 troops.

The countries which are participating in the exercises include Ukraine, the United States, Bulgaria, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Poland, Spain and others.

The US defense ministry said that the exercises will increase interoperability among Ukraine and the participating nations.
