UN Security Council calls for unconditional truce in Gaza

UNITED NATIONS: The UN Security Council called for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in the Gaza strip to allow for urgent aid to reach civilians.

In a statement, the 15-member Council expressed grave concern over the prevailing situation in Gaza and demanded an immediate truce between Israel and Hamas.

It urged Israel and Hamas to accept and fully implement the humanitarian truce into the Eid period and beyond.

The statement proposed that ceasefire should be held according to the proposal of Egypt. It also called for safety of life and property of Palestinians.
