Two including child killed as school van hits roadside bomb in Parachinar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: At least two persons including a child were killed when a school van hit a roadside bomb in Parachinar, the capital of Kurram tribal region and the largest city of the restive federally administered tribal areas (FATA).

The political administration officials said that five children were also injured in the blast which took place in Nasti Kot area of Kurram agency on Tuesday morning.

The blast occurred when the van carrying students was in its way to their school but hit an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the roadside.

The officials said that that the school van was completely destroyed in the blast.

The dead bodies and injured persons were admitted in Agency Headquarters Hospital Parachinar while the security forces cordoned off the area and began an investigation into the incident.

Militants kill man in Khyber’s Tirah valley

A person was killed by the militants in Meherban Kilay area of Khyber agency’s Tirah valley on Tuesday, the sources said.

The reason behind the person’s killing by the militants is not yet known.

The Pakistan’s military has been successfully continuing the operation Khyber-I against the militants in the restive Khyber tribal region since October.

More than 150 militants have been killed while 350 militants including more than 20 important commanders have surrendered to security forces since start of the operation in Khyber agency, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
