ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said he is the first democratically elected president who easily completed his tenure and who is exiting from the President House honorably in 65 years in the country.
Addressing journalists at a dinner held at presidency late Monday night, he said the progress of democracy in the country is the biggest revenge against the anti-democratic elements.
The previous coalition government, he noted, failed in some respects and clinched some vital victories as well; of them, the biggest success was the delegation of all powers to the parliament, stressing, “The people have come to realize that we came to make history, not headlines.”
Underlining his future policy, President Zardari said his party will shore up the economic policies by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), adding his party seeks the continuity of the previous government’s economic policies.
“We will want to introduce to Mian Nawaz Sharif the foreign investors who are primed for investment in the country,” he added.
Chinese investment in Pakistan stood at some million dollars, when PPP ascended to the helm of powers; however, this volume has now surged to billions of dollars, he claimed asserting Pakistan’s exchequer at present has one billion dollars as support to the budget.
President Zardari said henceforth, he will meet journalists without any protocol, adding he is leaving President House with grace and peace.
