LAHORE, Pakistan: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif is expected to leave for London on October 3, 2024.

The party sources said that Nawaz Sharif is expected to depart from Lahore for London from October 3 to 5 for a medical check-up.

While in London, Nawaz Sharif will also meet with new party officials.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Lahore.

During the meeting, they reviewed possibilities for enhancing relations in the fields of technology, business, and investment.

The Chief Minister proposed the establishment of specific “Chinese Economic Zones” to provide incentives and facilities to Chinese investors.

Nawaz Sharif said that China is Pakistan’s trusted friend, and Pakistan takes pride in its relationship with this great nation. He told the Chinese envoy that Maryam Nawaz is leading several welfare projects for the people of Punjab, and Punjab welcomes Chinese cooperation in infrastructure and technology.

The Chief Minister Punjab said that together with China, they can create economic miracles. She added that Punjab is always ready to welcome their Chinese friends and that Pakistan could greatly benefit from China’s model in reducing poverty.

The Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong emphasized that China values its friendship with Pakistan. He welcomed Punjab’s involvement in the upgraded vision of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which includes the development of special economic zones.

China is also keen to invest in Punjab’s agriculture sector, he said.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong appreciated initiatives like the Kisan Card (Farmer Card) and the Tractor Scheme led by the Chief Minister. He mentioned that with Chinese support, hybrid rapeseed, which provides higher yields, is currently being cultivated on 500,000 acres in Punjab, and they now plan to double this area. Additionally, 1,000 Pakistani farmers will receive training from Chinese experts on modern farming techniques.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of using machinery and efficient water management in agriculture, noting that Chinese expertise in these areas would be of great benefit.

The Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong extended an invitation to the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to visit China, which she graciously accepted.

Senator Pervaiz Rashid and Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb also participated in the meeting.

The Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and other relevant officials were present at the occasion as well.
