According to the poll schedule announced by the ECP, local bodies elections in Sindh would be held on November 27, while in Punjab local bodies elections would take place on December 7.
The nomination papers would be received on Nov 11 and 12. Objections against nomination papers could be filed on Nov 13 while scrutiny would take place from Nov 16 to 18.
The appeals against objections to nomination papers would be filed on Nov 19 and 20 and these would be disposed of by Nov 23. The date for withdrawing nomination papers would be Nov 24 and the final list of candidates would be notified on Nov 25.
Meanwhile, the candidates have started to receive nomination forms from the provincial Election Commission office in Quetta to contest local bodies’ elections to be held in Balochistan on December 7.
Provincial Election Commissioner Balochistan Syed Sultan Bayazeed said candidates have been visiting the EC Balochistan office and getting nomination forms.
“Following the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Election Commission has finalised preparations for conducting local bodies’ elections in Balochistan and issuance of nomination forms for 7,189 seats has been started,” he said.
Bayazeed said the candidates could submit their nomination papers on Nov 7 and 8 and warned that action would be taken against the polling staff if they were found to be giving favours to candidates.
The provincial election commissioner said white ballot papers would be printed for Union Council elections and green for District Council polls.
